The development team could have just used samples for the synth sounds..hell, even Ableton uses samples for their Live application. But, to have anyone that uses a Mac have real Virtual Synths right on their computer when they walk out of the store...that is too cool!!! Virtual Synths are just that...Garageband has simplified the controls a bit...but..you still have alot of control over each instrument.
